Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge were reintroduced the slot for microSD memory cards and IP68 moisture protection. South Korean brand’s enthusiasts were happy with these changes; however, despite Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge can do well under 1 meter of water for 30 min, you must get the things dry before putting a cable into the microUSB slot. This precaution is provided in the user’s manual.
“Charging the device while the slot is wet may cause damage. Dry up the slot carefully before charging the smartphone,” the manual to Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge reads.
As unveiled a couple days ago, Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge are fitted with a specially designed humidity sensor that prevents charging in cases when moisture is detected in the slot. When you try charging the smartphone right after immersing it, the device showcases an appropriate notification and does not accept the charge until the slot is dry.
Noteworthy, the humidity sensor is distinguished by high sensitiveness in relation to the cable and charger. When third-party accessories are employed, the protection may fail to work, resulting in damage to your device.
